My travels across the world and particularly across the African continent have brought me into contact with a lot of poverty and suffering, but also staggering beauty and zest for life.
Some of that beauty is being created, every day, by African artists, one of the more underappreciated and undervalued sources of artistic creation in the global art market.
As a counterpoint to my professional attention to conflict, poverty, and struggles in developing countries, I started to meet and get to know artists and ultimately collect African contemporary art.
I admire the ingenuity, resourcefulness, and creativity by African artists and would like to use this blog to showcase some of them and their work.
I also want to provide a platform to exchange on African contemporary art, and sometimes offer my own musings on art and artistic production on the continent and in the international art market with a focus on young, up-and-coming and lesser known artists, who do not easily have an international platform to showcase their work.
